Shot on my first trip to Moab, Utah. After driving all day and only scouting out possible sites because of dismal weather; I saw an overlook in the distance that looked very appealing. The walk to the actual cliff face was about a mile. Because of the constant drizzle of rain, I decided not to take all of my equipment (light meter, tripod, etc.), just my camera. "Maybe I would get lucky and the light would suddenly change", I remember thinking to myself. Upon arrival at the overlook, I witnessed one of the most grand landscapes I had ever seen. And sure enough, after standing there for a few minutes the sun finally poked through the clouds for the first time that day and gracefully lit the white rim canyon below. One of my best photographs.
